The partnership project between Frontiers Deutschland e.V. and the Hôpital de Guinebor II aims to offer training in anaesthesia to Chadian nursing staff at the Hôpital de Guinebor II in Chad. In order to achieve this aim, general and regional anaesthesia are to be expanded as techniques and emergency care within the hospital improved. Background: The Republic of Chad has a high rate of maternal and neonatal mortality. One of the causes of this is anaesthesiological complications, which are major risk factors for mortality following Caesarean sections. Chad has just two medical anaesthetists who face the challenge of passing on their expertise to students throughout the country. Activities: - Devising the curriculum and preparing teaching materials for further training - Delivering practical and theoretical instruction - Improving the oxygen supply - Procuring anaesthesia Equipment Impact: With the help of the hospital partnership, the level of anaesthesiological care is to be improved so that it meets the international minimum standard. Improved anaesthesia also contributes to better surgical outcomes as patients benefit from safer anaesthesia with less pain and fewer side effects. The goal is to train as many multipliers as possible over the next five to ten years.
