Training program for dental health care skills and dental technicans

Health Partnerships – GlobalDental health
The cooperation arrangement between the association German Dental Carehood International e.V. and Peniel Rural Community College gives girls from poor and underprivileged backgrounds the chance to train as dental assistants. Problem: Many agricultural labourers from villages around the southern Indian city of Madurai cannot afford to pay school fees for their children. It is thus rare for these children, and especially for girls, to receive well-founded training. Main activities: Within the framework of the partnership, underprivileged young people and adults are given an opportunity to train as dental assistants or dental technicians. German and Indian professionals provide the trainees with a well-founded theoretical training. A dedicated learning laboratory provides practical elements to supplement the training. Short-term results: Trainees obtain a state-certified professional qualification. Long-term results: The education situation of girls from underprivileged backgrounds improves.
