The partnership between the workgroup, Notfallmedizin Fürth e.V. and the Makerere Univeristy College of Health Sciences in Uganda is working towards the improvement of medical emergency systems in Uganda. Problem: Accidents and illnesses can be associated with acute life-threatening conditions and require immediate and targeted primary care. Ugandan patients often have limited access to these services. Thus, rates of morbidity and mortality remain high. Main Activities: In order to improve emergency care and reanimation outcomes, ERC accredited resuscitation courses are implemented. A network of Advanced Life Support (ALS) trainers is developed to implement the courses. Short-Term Effects: Through the implementation of ERC accredited resuscitation courses, health care personnel are independently educated. Long-Term Effects: Patients with acute life-threatening conditions receive secure primary care.
