Clinicpartnership between German Doctors and the Christian Hospital Chandraghona

Health Partnerships – GlobalOther
The partnership between the association German Doctors e.V. and the Christian Hospital Chandraghona (CHC) promotes health services, especially in the field of gynaecology, for the rural population of the Chittagong Hills Tracts in Bangladesh. Problem: The Chittagong Hills Tracts are a provincial region in the east of Bangladesh. The indigenous population was driven out for political and religious reasons, and access to medical care outside the Christian hospitals became significantly more difficult. Main activities: Further training for local doctors and visits by representatives of the German association are providing good, free treatment for many patients. There is a special focus on further training in gynaecology and surgery. In addition, new ultrasound and surgical equipment is to be procured. Short-term results: The number of operations in the surgery and gynaecology departments is to rise and staff are to be trained in-country. Long-term results: Access to health care is to be improved for the indigenous people, thus also increasing post-operative survival rates.
