TEEM_plus Health care program for Vietnamee Dementia people with non-pharmaceutical therapies

Health Partnerships – GlobalMental health
The ongoing partnership project between the German Center for Neurodegenerative Disease e.V. and the Bệnh Viện 30/4 Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, builds on the successes of the initial project and aims to enhance the quality of diagnosis and new care structures for patients with dementia with the help of a ‘caregiver club’. Background: As life expectancy among the Vietnamese population increases, so too does the number of patients with dementia. Although the government is aware of this future challenge, in the long term there is a lack of expertise and adequate resources to be able to adapt the treatment options available to the growing need. Activities: - Developing a concept for the training of hospital nurses - Establishing a family support group (‘caregiver club’) for patients - Teach the teacher training sessions for the certification of caregivers - Evaluating, adapting and scaling up the new carer support programme Impact: The expansion of the therapeutic day clinic with the help of training courses for nurses and the establishment of the ‘caregiver club’ makes an important contribution to the development of care structures in Viet Nam.
