Health Partnerships – GlobalMental health
The association, Oredola Benin e.V. works in collaboration with the psychiatric department at the university hospital in Cotonou towards the improvement of therapeutic care for patients with psychiatric disorders in Benin. Problem: The treatment of psychiatric disorders has been previously neglected in Benin. The focus has been on the treatment of infectious diseases, thus, preventing patients with psychiatric disorders from accessing appropriate treatment. Main Activities: Within this partnership, doctors and nurses from the university hospital in Cotonou are trained in the area of psychopharmacology. The impact of adapted psychopharmacological protocols on the treatment of people with psychiatric disorders will be monitored. Short-Term Effects: The trained doctors and nurses at the CNHU university hospital function as multiplicator teams and transfer their knowledge to other colleagues. Long-Term Effects: The adapted psychopharmacological protocols will improve the quality of treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders long-term.
