The cooperation between the SchönHelfen Klinik Stiftung für Gesundheit gGmbH (SchönHelfen Clinic Foundation for Health) and the NGO Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR) aim to further develop rehabilitation opportunities in West Bank. Problem: Only few medical rehabilitation centers exist in the West Bank. Trained personnel is also limited due to the financial and political situation, which prevent training opportunities regarding newly developed medicine. Main Activities: Through a close exchange between skilled professionals BASR employees will be able to increase their competencies in swallowing therapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Physical therapists at BASR should also be educated on the implementation of evidence-based rehabilitation methods. Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for swallowing diagnostics will also be implemented and training for these diagnostics will be applied. Short-Term Effects: Through mutual exchange, the competencies in various departments in the BASR will be improved. Long-Term Effects: The goal is to improve the medical care of persons with limited body mobility and to increase the patient’s participation in the community.
