The current round of funding focuses on ehealth
At present, up to EUR 300,000 is available to partnerships intended to promote ehealth.
Yes, the funding is restricted to countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
Yes, a small amount of the funding applied for can be used for operational research. A detailed list of the costs that can be covered by our funding programmes can be found here.
Invitations to apply to the University and Hospital Partnerships in Africa are usually issued every three years.
Each partnership must include at least one sub-Saharan African organisation active in the secondary or tertiary level of healthcare, such as a university hospital, teaching hospital or referral hospital. Additional German or African partner institutions may also be involved.
German public-sector and public-benefit health organisations, federal institutes and research institutions can apply to the University and Hospital Partnerships in Africa programme for funding for their partnership project. The German partner is the official applicant, and if the application is successful the German partner will also be the contracting partner for the funding.

You can apply to the University and Hospital Partnerships in Africa programme for funding to cover project trips, training costs, materials and equipment, and administrative costs. In addition, a limited amount of funding is available to cover staff costs and accompanying research. A detailed list of the costs that can be covered by our funding programmes can be found here.
